AQUINO: PRO-CHOICE LAW A VICTORY FOR GRASSROOTS ACTIVISTS
09/28/2017
SPRINGFIELD – Gov. Bruce Rauner signed House Bill 40 today. The legislation aims to preserve women’s access to abortion in Illinois, regardless of income level or changes to federal law.
State Sen. Omar Aquino, D-Chicago, released the following statement:
“The signing of House Bill 40 is a victory for pro-choice activists and organizations. After the governor reversed his position and publicly stated that he would veto this legislation, grassroots pro-choice activists made sure that he realized just how crucial women’s reproductive rights are. With so much uncertainty present in the White House and the governor’s office, we need an involved, mobilized and informed electorate now more than ever.”
