AQUINO SUPPORTS AUTOMATIC VOTER REGISTRATION VETO OVERRIDE

SPRINGFIELD- State Senator Omar Aquino (D-Chicago 2nd) voted to override the governor’s veto of legislation that creates a process for eligible voters to be automatically registered when they visit facilities ran by the Secretary of State’s office and other state agencies.

Aquino released the following statement on Senate Bill 250:

“Latinos are the demographic with the largest number of people turning 18, and we have the responsibility to energize and empower them to engage civically. I’m proud to support a measure that strengthens everyone’s voice in our democracy.”
