AQUINO STANDS UP FOR NET NEUTRALITY

12/15/2017

CHICAGO – The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) recently voted to overturn net neutrality protections, raising questions about the future of a free and open Internet.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan joined several other state attorneys general in a lawsuit appealing the FCC’s decision.

Senate Telecommunications and Information Technology Committee Vice Chairperson State Sen. Omar Aquino, D-Chicago, released the following statement:

“All Americans and especially low-income people are left vulnerable without net neutrality. Without sensible protections, internet companies will be able to charge for better access to the crucial information and services that are increasingly found online. I applaud the Illinois Attorney General’s decision to stand up to this corporate giveaway by joining the lawsuit against the FCC.”
