SEN. AQUINO REACTS TO 2018 BUDGET ADDRESS

SPRINGFIELD – Reacting to Governor Rauner’s state budget address, State Sen. Omar Aquino, D-Chicago, issued the following statement:
“Governor Rauner’s latest budget proposal uses misleading, irresponsible gimmicks to give the appearance of pension savings. The proposal would dump $1 billion in pension costs onto local property tax payers over four years, canceling out improvements from the more equitable education funding formula approved by the General Assembly last year. The governor’s budget is centered around a plan that would increase education inequality and put an even greater burden on property tax payers.”
